	Republic Day Celebrations
	Gitanjali Gems Ltd, Hyderabad Unit celebrated 26th Jan 2012 ,Republic Day with great patriotism. Special activities, competitions and indoor games were organized for the PWD’s .The entire staff and management participated in the celebrations All the employees gathered in the ground for the flag hoisting. Prizes were distributed for the various sports and cultural activities that were organized.



	Lecture on Correct Body Posture
	A lecture on Correct Body Posture was organized for our staff in Transmission House Marol. Dr. Parag V. Paluskar ,MS Exercise Physiology, UK.Consultant- Rehabilitation Medicine.Dept. Preventive Medicine & Rehabilitation , Seven Hills Hospital shared his expertise on Fitness Management (Correct Postures & Ergonomics) Neck & Back Problems Stressful Work Habits Poor Posture at Work Ideal Posture at work (including Computer Posture) Exercises to De‐stress at Work Body Mechanics Ergonomics Tips for Preventing Back Strains



	Gitanjali Gems sponsored the meals and gifts for Project Care
	“Sambhav” the CSR division of Gitanjali Gems joined hands with the Social Service League (SSL) a voluntary organization functioning from within St. Xavier’s College , Mumbai comprising student members concerned about socially relevant issues since the past 60 years. This group of has spread awareness among the students and brings about concrete action through a variety of socially relevant projects.

	Gitanjali Gems sponsored the meals and gifts for a two days program on 8 & 9 JAN 2012 of Project Care which is a project of the Social Service League which works towards up liftmen of underprivileged children through teaching, interacting and bonding with the support of NGOs.

	Children come to college and spend two fun filled days with the volunteers; each volunteer adopts a child for those two days where exhilarating experience and activities.
	Gitanjali Gems ltd is glad to be associated with the SSL which influences the leaders of tomorrow to care. Involvement in these projects has a deep lasting effect on the student volunteers, which gives them the courage to exhibit love, empathize with the underprivileged, and take the necessary steps to make a difference.



	Merry Christmas in Tata Memorial and Wadia Hospital , Mumbai .
	This Christmas , the employees of Gitanjali Gems played Santa Claus to the terminally ill children in the Tata memorial and Wadia hospital in Mumbai. The children received packets of biscuits and gift packs. The children at Wadia performed a song and dance . For some time the children forgot their pain and enjoyed their time.



	The Hyderabad unit of Gitanajli Gems Ltd conducted some activities in view of World disabled Day . Several sports, Games and cultural activities were carried out for the PwD staff and provided them with Prizes.



	INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE DISABLED
	DECEMBER 3, 2011 WAS A SPECIAL DAY FOR THE SPECIALLY ABLED EMPLOYEES OF GITANJALI GROUP AS MR MEHUL CHOKSI AND TOP MANAGEMENT OF GITANJALI GROUP CELEBRATED "INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE DISABLED " WITH THE PWD EMPLOYEES WORKING ACROSS ITS DIFFERENT OFFICES IN MUMBAI . SINCE 1992, THE UNITED NATIONS' (UN) INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IS ANNUALLY HELD ON DECEMBER 3. IT AIMS TO INCREASE THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE ISSUES AROUND DISABILITIES AND ATTENTION TO THE DIGNITY, RIGHTS AND WELL-BEING OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. AS A MARK OF ESTEEM AND IN RECOGNITION OF VALUED SERVICE, SEVERAL ESPECIALLY ABLED EMPLOYEES WERE FELICITATED FOR THEIR YEARS OF ASSOCIATION AND DEDICATION TOWARDS THE ORGANISATION. GITANJALI GEMS PRESENTLY EMPLOYEES CLOSE TO 250 SPECIALLY ABLED PEOPLE.THE EMPLOYEES WERE EXTREMELY TOUCHED BY THIS GESTURE. ITS CSR INITIATIVE CALLED " SAKSHAM" AIMS TO TRAIN AND EMPLOY PWD IN THE FIELD OF JEWELRY MANUFACTURING AND DIAMOND CUTTING AND POLISHING. IT WILL SOON LAUNCH ITS TRAINING MANNUAL FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHER ORGANIZATIONS INTERESTED IN SIMILAR INITIATIVES. MR CHOKSI SAID "THESE EMPLOYEES ARE AN ASSETS FOR THE ORGANIZATION AND PERFORM AT POWER WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES. BUILDING ON OUR EXPERIENCES WITHIN THE COMPANY WE PLAN TO INCREASE THE NUMBERS OF PWDS EMPLOYED. ON A WIDER SCALE, WE WOULD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE THE OTHERS IN THE INDUSTRY TO LOOK AT TAKING SIMILAR STEPS". GITANJALI GEMS LIMITED HAS WON THE PRESTIGIOUS "BEST EMPLOYER" AWARD IN THE NATIONAL AWARDS FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES CONDUCTED BY THE MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA AND THE NCPEDP - SHELL HELEN KELLER AWARD FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF PWD'S."



	Shop for a Cause
	As a part of Children’s Day celebration , " SAMBHAV "the CSR Dept. of Gitanjali Gems Ltd invited ADAPT / Spastic society for organizing an exhibition cum sale of beautiful Handicrafts designed & created by ADAPT students (affected with Cerebral Palsy), Women’s Empowerment Group & student trainees at Gitanjali Gems Ltd, Laxmi Tower, BKC. Under the expert guidance of the ADAPT staff, the students had created a variety of exquisite articles that make beautiful gifts for the home, office and personal use. On popular demand it was the second consecutive year that this stall was organized. The response was over whelming. People appreciated the products and purchased goods worth close to Rs 23000 /- (Highest sales figure in a day for ADAPT ) . Also donations close to Rs 5000 were collected and given to the special children.



	BACK TO SCHOOL
	Some of the Gitanjali staff celebrated Diwali in an amazing way with the children of class 1& 2 of Shirodkar School on 21 Oct 2011 .We organized a greeting card making competition for them and then distributed gifts .It took us back to our schooling days , those little fights with fellow students , complaining to the teachers , eating from each others’ Tiffin and many more such memorable moments ……. Every moments of those days simply flashed in our eyes. We were simply overwhelmed by the occasion when we saw the sparkling smile and those chants of happy Diwali from the kids .




	JOY OF GIVING WEEK
	We collected close to a value of Rs 25000 worth of stationary ( 600 note books,1000 pencils , 500 sharpeners and erasors,500 crayon boxes,100 sketch pen sets and many other things ) that we will be distributed to the underprivileged children studding in schools in Mumbai . The distribution of the gifts to the children will bring a big smile on their faces and their good wishes will fill our lives with positivity and happiness.



	Sale of products made by the specially abled students of Shirodhkar school at Gitanjali Gems office , plot 18 , MIDC
	On the eve of Diwali the CSR Dept .of Gitanjali Gems Limited organized a small exhibition /sale of products made by the specially abled students of Shirodhkar school at its plot 18 , MIDC office on 14 Oct 2011 Products made by them were flower decoration ,rahki ,diya, candle ,cards , files /folders, jewelry etc. Close to Rs 5000 were collected from the sale of products .The school houses around 30 children with mental imbalance of all age group and all are given vocational training.



	Rose Day Celebration for Cancer patients
	Gitanjali Gems Limited supported Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) in its celebration of The rose day - a day to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. CPAA reaches out to cancer patients through medicines,counseling,research and rehabilitation.



	Special Rakhies by special children
	Gitanjali gems continues to support to ADAPT (spastic society) by organizing a sale booth of their products at Gitanjali gems Marol office on 11th Aug 2011, on the eve of Rakshabandhan We repeated the achievements of last year by motivating and appreciating the efforts of these specially abled children by having sale of products close to Rs 10000/-. The staff was extremely enthusiastic and extended their support through 100% participation.



	Presentation on "Diabetes awareness and healthy life style"
	Today Diabetes is one of the fastest growing lifestyle disease, with Indians being the largest population affected by it. A presentation on diabetes awareness and healthy life style was organized on 25th July 2011 at Transmission house ,Marol , for the benefit of the employees . It indicated the causes , symptoms ,prevention and cure for diabetes.A full house attendance showed the concern most of us have about this booming disease.



	Lecture on "The Damaging Effects of Tobacco”at Gemplus
	As a part of SAMBHAV , CSR initiative , "The Damaging Effects of Tobacco” were highlighted at a presentation made under the Tobacco Intervention Initiative (TII) program of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) for the staff and workers of Gem plus ,Gitanjali Gems, Mumbai on 11th June 2011 by Miss. Tejal Rajgor. Tobacco leads to heart and blood vessel disease, heart attack, chest pain, sudden cardiac death, stroke, peripheral vascular disease (Gangrene of legs) plus it is also responsible for cancer of various parts of the body like mouth, throat, lungs, stomach, kidney, bladder etc. Gitanjali Gem’s staff members felt that there was an urgent need for more prohibition of tobacco usage and this won’t happen until there is a public outcry, so meetings like these are designed to generate awareness in the hope of making the come community forward to request change.



	“Plant a Tree” initiative by Diya Diamonds on the occasion of World Environment Day
	Mumbai, 6th June, 2011 – On the occasion of World Environment Day, Diya Diamonds today announced the “Plant a Tree” initiative with Brand Ambassador Celina Jaitley, who was present at the event to pledge her support for this noble cause. Diya Diamond’s planet friendly initiative on World Environment Day aims to create awareness and educate the society on the importance of a Green Nation. On this occasion Celina Jaitley, Brand ambassador of Diya Diamonds said “I am proud to be associated with this initiative by Diya Diamonds. This activity is the perfect platform to create awareness about our environmental issues and a step in the right direction. I hope everybody joins us and takes a pledge on World Environment Day to give back to nature and become pro actively environmentally friendly” Mr. Niyat Parekh, CEO of Gitanjali Brands Ltd. announced this worthy initiative by Diya Diamonds and planted the 1st sapling to support this eco friendly cause and said “Through this CSR activity we aim to highlight our environmental issues and create a platform for all to give back to the environment by planting a sapling and contributing for a greener nation. We are glad that Celina is part of this initiative and has come forward to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for the city.” “He who plants a tree, plants a hope “and Diya Diamonds gives hope to all with the “Plant a Tree “drive.



	A successful Blood Donation Drive accross offices in Gitanjali Group
	Sambhav, Gitanjali groups, CSR initiative with the support of SBTC (State Blood Transfusion COUNCIL, MAHARASHTRA) organized a blood donation drive across the following offices in Mumbai in May 2011 We successfully completed the Blood Donation Drive with 101 units of blood collected..The donors recieved a certificate and a donors card entitling them to one one unit of blood for them or their close ones for the next two years.We also received a certificate of appriciation from the blood bank. It has been a great step towards a noble cause.



	Be wise about your eyes
	Nearly 100 people benefited from the presentation on BE WISE ABOUT YOUR EYES. The presentation covered information about eyes, eye care tips, and lifestyle changes recommended for good vision. It was presented by Dr Srinivasan who is a MD and MBBS from Pune with over 4 decades of experience. The is an a consultant to many corporates , faculty and author of many books.



	INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2011
	International Women's Day (8 March) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. Women in all offices , often divided by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their Day. All the offices in Mumbai and Hyderabad celebrated Womans day by organising activities , games , presentation ,motivational lectures etc.



	National Safety Day - 4th March 2011

	In view of the National Safety Day i.e 4th March 2011, various programmes were conducted in Hyderabad units. 1. Placed Banners at all our units including main Gate.2.Each and every worker & staff were provided Safety Badges.3.Pledge of safety was taken from all the workers & Staff.4.Safety posters were pasted inside the factory5.All the workers & staff were informed of the importance of safety by addressing gathering. Covering all the aspects of Fire safety, First aid,Health,hygine and cleanliness of surrounding and keeping the equipment safe.6.Conducted Slogan writing & Elocution completion’s among the workers and staff.



	International Day for the Disabled

	On 3rd December 2011 Hyderbad Unit celebrated the International Day for the Disabled. A cultural program was performed by The Team of PwD.Several people danced and sang on the tunes of the local songs.The team was highly motived by the words of wisdom and the Presence of the top management.



	Celebrating children’s day in a special way

	Relief projects India is a small NGO operating in villages in and around Madurai. It collaborates with The Claretian Educational and Social Services Society to rescue unwanted and abandoned baby girls, to prevent them from being killed. The babies are then adopted by families whose backgrounds are thoroughly checked. They also run awareness programs on health, sanitation and education to spread awareness about these in the locals and pregnant women. They run a program called the Lil Darling where they Care for abandoned handicapped children who will not be adopted. These are babies who need medical care, attention and regular treatments and then are provided with preschool education. Apart this , care is taken of abandoned and destitute elderly folk who have been rescued from spending their last days on the street. A chance to visit them and be a part of their day to day activity and spending time with the kids made the day special and memorable.



	A memorable day at the HOME FOR THE AGED

	1st Oct was celebrated as world elders day .Several employees of Gitanjali gems got together to spend some time with our senior citizens at The HOME FOR THE AGED, at Andheri, Mumbai. They shared their stories and experience with all of us and blessed us with their good wishes. Many employees donated generously in cash and kind. Tea, coffee, medicines, creams, toothpastes, soaps (washing and bathing), talcum powder (nicil), steam iron, telephone instruments (Landline) etc. It was a touching and a memorable experience.



	lectures on preventive cardiology
	Gitanjali group celebrated Healthy Heart Month in September where lectures on preventive cardiology were organized in various offices across Mumbai where Dr Sanjay Rajdev , a Consultant in Cardiology at Seven Hills Hospital gave insights on the following topics

	• Risk Factors for Heart Attacks • How do I estimate my risk of heart attack? • What do I do to prevent heart attack? • How can I prevent my children from developing heart attacks when they grow big?

	He passed his DM Cardiology from King Edward VII Memorial (K.E.M.) Hospital, Mumbai and subsequently spent 3 years training and working in the United States. He specializes in Coronary Angiography via radial route, coronary angioplasty, peripheral angiography and peripheral angioplasty.

	The staff greatly benefited from the lecture .People got answers to various queries they had in their minds about heart diseases.



	Independence Day Celebrations
	15th August 2010, Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotism in all the offices especially at the Hyderabad SEZ. All the employees gathered in the ground for the flag hoisting. Prizes were distributed for the various sports and cultural activities that were organized. Special activities, competitions and indoor games were organized for the PWD’s .The entire staff and management participated in the celebrations.



	Marol office in Mumbai celebrated Independence Day in a unique way organizing competitions for the employees.



	Environment Conservation
	45 minute session on environment conservation was organized where a brief lecture and paper bag making activity was organized the session was conducted by an Organization called Greenpeace on 30th June 2010, Wednesday in several offices in Mumbai. Posters for energy, water, paper conservation were circulated to all offices. The lecture emphasized on how we could be agents towards saving the environment and how a small effort from an individual will make a difference .A short film on the river Ganga was shown to all to show the impact of change on the climate and on our lives.



	FREE EYE CAMP
	FREE EYE CAMP was conducted in Hyderabad Gems SEZ ltd .This camp was organised on 5th & 6th July in collaboration with MAX VISION and covered 1500 employees. Dr.Srinivas Rao Ophthalmologist and his team helped in making this programme successful.



	Blood Donation Camp
	A Blood Donation Drive across several Gitanjali Group offices in Mumbai was successfully conducted in the month of May, with the support of one of the leading blood banks in Mumbai. People turned up in large numbers and great enthusiasm to donate blood at the camp .All donors were given donor certificates which enable them to receive free blood units.



	Cleanliness day

	Cleanliness day Was organized across all offices in Mumbai in the month of January. “Keep your desk clean competition" was organized for motivating people to clean, organize and decorate their workplace. 3 " Best Desk Awards" were distributed in all the offices where in a certificate and Sambhav Mug were presented to the people who put in an effort to beautify the desk.



	Cancer Awareness

	In the month of February Cancer Awareness programs were organized across several offices in Mumbai in collaboration with Cancer Patients Aid Association. The program covered almost 400 Gitanjali employees who were briefed about Oral, breast and Survical Cancer, Its symptoms, early detection, cure and prevention. The various facts presented in the presentation were eye opening. Some offices decided that pan masala and smoking will not be consumed in office hours



	Woman’s Day

	Woman power at its best In Gitanjali Group Woman’s Day, 8th March was celebrated with lot of zest and enthusiasm across all offices in Mumbai and Hyderabad unit. The second half of the day was totally dedicated to several games, talent shows, competitions Prizes were given to the best dressed woman in traditional outfit. It was party time for all.



	Safety Day

	March 4th was celebrated as World safety day. Various competitions were organized for the employee which included Essay writing ,elocution and slogan writing .All the employees gathered together and pledged to follow safety measures in the factory premises .They were informed about the importance of industrial safety ,and demonstrated emergency evacuation, first aid, how to move to persons with disabilities in the times of emergency.



	Republic Day
	Republic day celebrations at Hyderabad Unit 26 Jan was celebrated with great fun and frolic at the Hyderabad unit of Gitanjali Gems. A special program was organized by the PWD’s where they performed a short cultural program .They sang they danced they performed and touched the hearts of one and all



	First aid training
	First aid is an important tool to keep oneself abreast to face medical emergencies in office and at home. First aid training was organized across many of the Gitanjali Groups offices in Mumbai. Close to 300 people have been trained on handling emergencies like nose bleeding, cuts, burns, heart attacks, fractures etc The training was conducted by doctors of Seven Hills Hospital.
