Gitanjali sponsored an amazing program for the specially abled |
| |
Gitanjali sponsored an amazing program conducted by Ability Unlimited. This was a performance by boys who are on crutches and wheelchairs and girls who are deaf and dumb. This was conceptualized by Guru Pasha of Delhi, who used to tie his legs for 10 hours a day just to think how as to what choreography he could do for these boys.
The performers performed with such finesse and perfection that the wheelchairs and crutches became their accessories and not hindrances. It was truly a mesmerizing evening.
This performance happened on the annual day function of Friends of Tribals Society, a charity supported by the Gitanjali group. FTS is running 46,000 Ekal Vidyalayas in the tribal belt of India in its Endeavour to spread literacy in the far flung tribal villages.

Summer Camp for under privileged children |
| |
Volunteers from Gitanjali Gems visited a Municipal school in the Mumbai suburb and conducted various sports activities for the children as a part of their holiday camp. The school provides education to close to 250 under privileged children. All children were given stationary and winners were given prizes.

Blood Donation Drive
Sambhav the CSR initiative of Gitanjali Gems conducted a Blood |

Donation Drive at the Gemplus Unit . A total of 83 people volunteered and 51 units of blood were collected.People participated in this initiative with great spirit . |

WOMANS DAY LIKE NEVER BEFORE - SELF DEFENCE SESSION FOR ALL FEMALE EMPLOYEES |

Personal safety is a set of awareness , assertiveness , verbal confrontational skills ,safety strategies and physical techniques that enable a person to successfully avoid ,prevent ,escape and survive violent assaults . A training session for self defense was organized for the woman staff at Gitanjali Gems where a team of trainers from MMA were invited. MMA has developed a training module that uses less third party equipment or instrument for Self Defense, but trains our mind and limbs to act accordingly. This training module has been appreciated and applied by many. |

The Lecture on Health@Work and FREE CHECKUP - January 2013 |

Sambhav the CSR division of Gitanjali Gems in collaboration with Yogi Krupa Medi Chem organized a lecture and free check up camp on Tired Legs (Varicose veins ) and Health issues at workplace. Free check up was carried out for the entire staff and remedies, preventive measures and work outs were suggested in the presentation. |

Clown Performance for the Cancer suffering underprivileged kids |
| |
Gitanjali Gems supported A Clown Performance 'Popo and the Frog King' by Artist from Stockholm, Sweden for the underprivileged children suffering from cancer .They came to India to perform for the kids and will travel pan India to make children laugh & ease their stress. The show is adaptable and they have travelled to different crisis areas such as Israel-Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Moldovia, US and many more.

International Day of Disabled Persons |

International Day of Disabled Persons aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. We celebrated this day on 3rd Dec 2012 at our Hyderabad unit for our speacially abled employees. |

Gitanjali Gems celebrates Diwali with the Underprivileged |
| |
Under our CSR initiative we invited Veena Dhaifule , Dy. Director- Narika Shakti , ADAPT and her team to conduct a sale stall of products made by the mothers of children affected with Celebral Palsy. They had prepared bags, diyas, decorative items and close to Rs. 7500 were collected through sales. These women not only take care of their especially abled kids but also develop vocational skills and hence become financially independent. |

| |
A special program was organized for the children of Amulakh Amichand school ,Matunga on the 3rd Oct in the memory of Pujya Baa Smt .Gunvantiben Choksi. As it was Gandhi Jayanti on Oct 2nd hence the topic of the program was “Influence of non violence and Jain philosophy on Mahatma Gandhi”. This was creatively communicated to the children like a story through a musical program .The children were offered snacks and enjoyed the program to the fullest. |

Distribution of Books and stationary in a municipal school in Mumbai |

On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi , Gitanjali Gems Limited organized an “ECO Friendly Ganesh competition” in the western suburbs of Mumbai. More than 100 children participated and were given note books and stationary. Children showed their creativity and imagination in making the Ganpati Idols. |

Yet again the products made by the children affected by cerebral palsy of ADAPT (Spastic society of India) were a great success at a sale stall at Marol office of Gitanjali gems.
The staff appreciated the products and contributed Rs 8000 for this noble initiative. |

"ENVIRONMENT IS MY NEW BEST FRIEND" |

"ENVIRONMENT IS MY NEW BEST FRIEND" was the theme of a TREE PLANTATION drive
organized by Gitanjali Gems in one of the schools in the western suburbs of
Mumbai. 100 saplings were planted in the school premise and various
environment related activities and competitions were organized .The
children also performed songs and dance related to environment conservation.
Certificates of appreciation were given out to the winners of various
competitions. |

Under Sneh – The CSR initiative of Gitanjali Gems the Gitanjali staff helped specially challenged children of Adapt to design and make products for sale in the Kala Ghoda festival 2012. Children from Adapt enthusiastically participated in making articles. Children made jewelry, doormats decorated envelopes etc. |

Special activities, competitions and indoor games were organized for the PWD’s .The entire staff and management participated in the celebrations All the employees gathered in the ground for the flag hoisting. This group of has spread awareness among the students and brings about concrete action through a variety of socially relevant projects. |

Children come to college and spend two fun filled days with the volunteers; each volunteer adopts a child for those two days where exhilarating experience and activities. |
