  Sales stall of products made by the children of ADAPT
  Yet again the products made by the children affected by cerebral palsy of ADAPT (Spastic society of India) were a great success at a sale stall at Marol office of Gitanjali gems. The staff appreciated the products and contributed Rs 8000 for this noble initiative.
               
  Inauguration of Gunvanti Choksi Jin Mandal
  It was an emotional moment for the Choksi Family at the Inaugural function of Gunvanti Choksi Jin Mandal on 19th July,at Prabodhankar ThakreNatyaGrih, Sodawala Lane, Borivali West. “Gunvanti Choksi Jin Mandal” is a spiritual class which aims at Spirituality to Happiness and has 200 members already enrolled. A cultural program was organized and the initiative was inaugurated by Neena Ben Sheth. Information about the classes will be sent to all Jain Patrikas and newspapers.
                     
  Gitanjali Staff Supports ADAPT for Kala Ghoda festival 2012
  Under Sneh – The CSR initiative of Gitanjali Gems the Gitanjali staff helped specially challenged children of Adapt to design and make products for sale  in the  Kala Ghoda  festival 2012. Children from Adapt enthusiastically participated in making articles. Children made jewelry, doormats decorated envelopes etc.
           
  Sambhav” the CSR division of Gitanjali Gems joined hands with the Social Service League (SSL) a  voluntary organization functioning from within St. Xavier’s College  , Mumbai comprising student members concerned about socially relevant issues since the past 60 years. This group of has spread awareness among the students and brings about concrete action through a variety of socially relevant projects like
 
  • Annual exhibitions - on social themes
  • Rural camps - comprising manual work,
  • Blood drives
  • Regular visits - e.g.: to Cheshire Home (for paraplegic men)
  • Environmentally based projects and
  • Workshops on social issues
  Gitanjali Gems sponsored the meals and gifts  for a two days program on 8 & 9 JAN 2012  of Project Care  which is a  project of the Social Service League which works towards up liftmen of underprivileged children through teaching, interacting and bonding with the support of NGOs.
  Children come to college and spend two fun filled days with the volunteers; each volunteer adopts a child for those two days where exhilarating experience and activities such as below are arranged

  • Games on the college campus
  Gitanjali Gems ltd is glad to be associated with the SSL which influences the leaders of tomorrow to care. Involvement in these projects has a deep lasting effect on the student volunteers, which gives them the courage to exhibit love, empathize with the underprivileged, and take the necessary steps to make a difference.

  Sadhana Village is a throbbing intentional community at the heart of Kolwan valley, 30 kms off Pune City.It is an ever evolving community responsive to the needs of the disabled and the under-privileged; assisting, promoting, implementing solutions based on freedom, dignity and trust of the individual; and respect for environment. Sadhana Village is a voluntary organization and is registered under Societies Registration Act of 1860, and under Bombay Public Trusts Act of 1950. It is also registered under FCRA and the Income Tax Act.

  JOINING HANDS WITH RELIEF PROJECTS INDIA TO RESCUE UNWANTED AND ABANDONED BABY GIRLS
  In the past ten years, They have rescued almost 400 babies, and placed over 200 in adoptive families.

  • Claretian Mercy Home
Relief Projects India (R.P.I.) collaborates with The Claretian Educational and Social Services Society to rescue unwanted and abandoned baby girls, to prevent them from being killed. The babies are then adopted by families whose backgrounds are thoroughly checked.

Visit near by villages to educate people, pregnant woman about hygiene

The Mercy Home also cares for several old folk who have been rescued from spending their last days on the street.

  A sale booth of the products made by children of ADAPT ,Spastic society  ,ON 20TH August 2010 at Gitanjali Gems Ltd, Laxmi Tower, Bandra Kurla Complex. An invitation was sent to all the offices in Laxmi towers.

The response was amazing. The products made by them included Handcrafted Gift Bags Cushion Covers, Table Linen, Kurtas material, Unique Handcrafted Paper Products like File Folders, Gift Wrapping Paper, Note Pads, dairies, Rakhis, Pen Stand / Pots.

The Spastics Society of India was founded in 1972 by Dr. Mithu Alur, to address the educational and therapy needs of children with cerebral palsy. From a special school started with three children, it has grown to provide services that include assessment, treatment, education, counseling, continuum of support services, vocational guidance, skills training,  job placement, and advocacy for children and young adults with disabilities. Their four centers are located at Colaba, Bandra, Chembur and Dharavi.

Under the expert guidance of the staff, the students create a variety of exquisite articles that make beautiful gifts for the home, office and personal use. The products are updated on a regular basis, to meet new demands and trends in style and color.
  Close to 500 people visited the stall. People loved the products so much that a sale of Rs 22 thousand and donation of Rs 5 thousand was collected.
  Mr. Sunil Verma and Mr. Subramaniam distributed gift and certificates to the team from ADAPT and appreciated their efforts.

Some of the team members met Mr. Choksi and thanked him for his support .He conveyed his appreciation and support towards to efforts by the children of ADAPT.
                             
         
  Spreading Smiles
  Sneh is a mission undertaken by Gitanjali Group to interact with NGOs and support their initiatives on different fronts. The aim is to build relationships with organisations and individuals who are active in the field and execute projects for the upliftment of society by partnering with them. Sneh helps to reach out to such organizations in a more focused manner. Currently under Sneh the process of creating bonds with various NGOs in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and other places is under way.
