Bangalore fashion week - Day 3
Gitanjali Presents Swapnil Shinde's Spring/Summer 2012 collection : Swapnil Shinde’s collection, presented by Gitanjali, at Blender's Pride Bangalore Fashion Week 2012 in association with Gitanjali Jewels, is all about breaking rules and going all over the top, with modernity and structure. “Speed” as the source of inspiration was derived from speed of sound. The inspiration lies in the rippled effects created by sound waves. The color palette includes ivory, jet black, warm grey, nude and a shock of yellow. The silhouettes range from tops, short dresses , evening gowns and jackets whereas the fabrics range from a variety of menswear fabrics, silk chiffons, taffetas, organza’s, silk crepe and an innovative use of acrylic, p.v.c and leather.
Although the inspiration for the texture and overall feel is from sound waves and ripples the essence of the collection is 80’S - whether it is shoulder pads, or boxy trousers, boleros, Madonna inspired p.v.c., sculptural dresses skirts and tops. The key was to take unconventional concepts and make them relatable and aesthetically romantic. The exquisite timepieces adorned by the show stopper, VJ Mia and Swapnil himself were from Morellato from Gitanjali Group.
Morellato offers an eclectic mix of styles from which everyone can find the perfect product of choice – each creation a perfect combination of timeless fashion and typically elegant Italian design. |

Gitanjali Jewels Presents Ritu Beri's Spring/ Summer Collection – Summerleas: Gitanjali Jewels presents Ritu Beri’s collection ‘Summerleas’ to successfully conclude Blender’s Pride Bangalore Fashion Week 2012 in association with Gitanjali Jewels. Ritu set the tone for women’s fashion with her new spring summer collection, which is a modern take to an Indian concept, accented with interesting details. The basic concept was to create a modern look retaining the traditional element for a woman who has evolved with the fast pace of the world and yet looks inwardly for the primary element the soul. No restriction on the colour palette; there are wide hues ranging from whites to reds, golden, yellow to metallic’s to black’s. Thus enabling the freedom to create one’s own chromatic world.
The fabric used are basic weaves from pure cottons to rich brocades, silks, velve, satin & lace, all artistically blended & intricately embroidered with zardosi, sequins braids & Swarovksi crystals to create a magical spell. The silhouettes are very wearable, contemporary with interstiing details; one can see also layering that is predominant in some of the evening ensembles. Essentially, the collection is an eclectic blend of kurtas, ghagras/cholis with elaborate odhinis; long flared, as well as, straight tunics over salwars & churidars.
The desire to go beyond accepted limits; to flirt with the forbidden; to upset the established order. This, is the geneseis of Ritu Beri’s spring/summer 2012 collection. This is a collection that is glamorous & accentuates the female form & celebrates the spirit of today’s woman. |
