Gitanjali Gems Wins Prestigious National Award |

Awards presented by President of India at New Delhi on the International Day for Disabled Persons (December 3. 2009)

M/s. Gitanjali Gems Limited has won the prestigious “Best Employer” award in the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 2009 scheme conducted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The award recognizes the efforts undertaken by the company in this field at its unit in the Rajiv Gems Park, Hyderabad.

The award was received by Ms Priyanka Choksi (Daughter of Mr. Mehul Choksi, CMD, Gitanjali Group)from the President of India at a special function at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on the occasion of World Disability day , 3rd Dec. |

The award is recognition of the company’s CSR project at Hyderabad – which provides training and employment to over 150 PWD’s in the field of jewellery manufacturing and diamond polishing. The company plans to increase their strength to more than 1000 in the next 3 years. The goal is to create conditions for the rehabilitation of the PWD’s, by making them independent, considering them as assets and to create a life long bond by reintegrating them with the competitive world. |

We are associated with various NGOs and government organizations like DRDA, EGMM, VRC and Rajeev Udyogshree. We also organize job melas for providing them training and employment. The trainees are provided with all amenities like food, accommodation and transportation. We conduct various welfare activities like sports, cultural programs and picnics throughout the year. |
